Let's share with you the technique used by professional installers. Because yes, it may seem childish to put up a sticker, but there are still techniques to avoid getting upset and throwing everything away! Even with the most high-end sticker in the world... if the installation is mediocre, the result will not live up to the quality.
OUR MEGANE RS TROPHY DECO
We put our decoration on a Megane 3 RS , the result is great!
Without bubbles and positioning it the first time, yet without water.
1 - POSITIONING
How did we position it?
So here we are at step 1 , the simplest but essential.
After having neatly cut out the excess stickers (wasted space), we find the ideal position on the car using a few reference points: internet photos of the original decoration, body shapes, measurements, etc.
Once done, we hold everything together with tape. Be careful at this stage, we have not yet removed any film.

Separating the sticker into 2 parts will allow you to apply it in 2 steps, with a clear demarcation which will make your task much easier. |
2 - APPLICATION OF STICKERS
Let's move on to step 2, let's start applying the stickers in a few photos:
1 - Removing the backing paper

3 - Removing the boundary tape
And we start again

6 - Careful removal of the transfer, flat along the bodywork

A straight and clean cut of the backing paper is important. As a reminder, the backing paper is the one underneath, it is cardboard, thick and opaque. |

You have to press hard and very gradually, starting from the inside towards the outer edges.
This is to push all the air out of the film, and therefore limit bubbles. This is the stage where the air must be removed, right from the start. |

After having done the upper part, the separation tape was removed and we moved on to the lower part.
Exactly the same way and with the same attention to the bubbles.

If the decoration passes over 2 bodywork elements, then it must be passed over. The cutting will be done later. |

We move on to removing the transfer, delicately starting from a corner, and pulling as flat as possible. The drawing is done gradually and flat to avoid any risk of tearing or unwanted marks.

Now let's move on to the upper part, with a slight difficulty in terms of the very pronounced shape of the bodywork.

Same positioning principle. Here we chose to separate the two parts at a strategic location: the top of the ridge Then apply the sticker starting at the bottom, in order to properly join the part already installed. |

Then we continue, same principle, on the upper part.

On this car, the body is very curved at this point. You have to go very gradually, centimeter by centimeter.
If necessary, it is possible to make a few cuts on the transfer part to facilitate support. Be careful not to make them too big, this could slightly deform the decoration. |

Cut between the elements with a new blade. Then fold the edges inwards. Be careful, if this part is not clean enough and completely degreased, it will not adhere properly.

This also applies to many other makes and models of vehicles. This one has made it possible to show the main stages and an additional difficulty in terms of the shape of the bodywork.
